Eternal Echoes: Carbon Copy of Nature's Cycles (2024)
I like the unpredictable, serendipitous, and beautifully imperfect process of printmaking. I use various printmaking techniques as forms of expression, including linocut, etching, chine-colle, engraving, monotype, dry point etching, embossing, and cyanotype. My art stems from personal experience; being creative is like conversing with life. As no one can live without inhaling and exhaling, no one can live without feeling and expressing.
Carbon is the lifeblood of Earth and is naturally regulated by the carbon cycle. Without it, the Earth would be frozen.
Carbon is the basis of all life on Earth; we are made of carbon, we consume carbon, and our economies, homes, and modes of transport are built on carbon. Whether these life forms absorb carbon to help produce food or emit carbon as part of respiration, the absorption and release of carbon is a crucial part of all plant and animal life.
This series of work consists of pieces that explore the interconnectedness between human beings and the natural world, specifically focusing on the cycles of life, which include the carbon cycle mentioned above. The theme of cycles runs through all my work like a thread. The life cycles include birth, growth, decay, and rebirth. I aim to show how these stages mirror the Earth's natural cycles. Through symbolism, I strive to represent different life stages depending on my own current experiences. I then connect to nature and look for nature's patterns and cycles in my own life.
This exhibition consists of carbon copy prints exploring the interconnected relationship between human life cycles and nature. The prints will feature intricate patterns and textures created through carbon copy printing, evoking the layers and complexity in the natural world.
The artworks incorporate elements of nature, such as leaves, flowers, and branches. The viewer's engagement emphasizes the connection between humans and nature. Through the appreciation of the delicate nature of the artwork, I aim to strengthen the symbiosis between humans and the environment, specifically focusing on acceptance of the ongoing cycles of life and nature.
Carbon copy printing also adds a tactile and ephemeral quality to the artwork, emphasizing the fragile and transient nature of our relationship with the natural world
